Live Fuzzy Readme

About Live Fuzzy

Live Fuzzy is serial release / time lapse / live camera utility for fujifilm's digital cameras.

Requirements

Windows 32bit (Windows95/98/NT etc.). Live Fuzzy will NOT work with Win32s.

Getting Started



Copy LiveFuz.exe to the folder of your choice then place a shortcut to Live Fuzzy on your Desktop. Live Fuzzy works as standalone utility, no DLLs or other drivers are needed. After startup you are presented with the window as seen left.


To get started using Live Fuzzy with your camera you should:
  1. Turn on the digital camera WITHOUT connect it to the computer, set picture taking mode (image quality, flash etc.).

  2. Turn off the digital camera and connect it to the computer's serial connection as usual, then turn on.

  3. Select Comm Port No. Default value is COM1:.

  4. Select Baudrate. Default value is 115200bps. Some of digicams/computers can't support 115200bps. In such case, select 57600bps or lower.

  5. Set time lapse interver by Interval h/m/s box. Minimum interval time is vary by model of digicam and picture taking mode.

  6. Set number of pictures you want to take by No. of pic. box. If you select 'infinite', Live Fuzzy will take until storage is exhausted or cancel button is pushed.

  7. Select picture destination by Pic. dest. button.
    Camera
    Picture will be stored to digicam's flash memory.
    Computer
    Picture will be stored to computer's storage (Hard drive, Floppy, Zip etc.), then Live Fuzzy erases it from digicam. Pictures will be stored to Folder of 'Folder' column, by name of the timestamp, YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.jpg format. Tha latest image is also copied to name 'latest.jpg' automatically.
    FTP&Save
    Same as above:Computer, but this mode executes FTP after picture stored. If you want to do FTP, you should place the file 'ftp.ini' at the folder which image stores. Please refer Appendix 1 for more details.
    FTP only
    Same as above:FTP&Save, but this mode saves the 'latest.jpg' only.

  8. If you choose picture destination to Computer or FTP, you can resize pictures by Resize column.

  9. Click Start button or push 'S' key to start time lapse. If you click this button with Live Fuzzy's startup default parameters, Live Fuzzy works as a serial release.

  10. Click Cancel button or push 'C' key to interrupt downloading.

  11. Click Exit button or push 'E' key to terminate Fuzzy.exe. Comm port no., baud rate and download folder name are saved to the 'livefuz.ini' file when terminate.



Appendix 1: How to write ftp.ini

Live Fuzzy uses Microsoft Windows' standard command, ftp.exe. If you want to do FTP, you should place the file 'ftp.ini' at the folder which image stores. This is a tiny description of sample ftp.ini file. For more details, Press Start-Button of Windows, click 'Help', type ftp, select 'ftp commands'.

Appendix 2: How to make serial cable

Here's a serial cable diagram for fujifilm digicams. It seems the same as OLYMPUS/Agfa cables, but pin 3 & 5 are exchanged.
