【意味】
相続人

【参考】
特に「女性の相続人」を”heiress”ということがある。
▷ a person who may legally receive property or assets from a deceased person's estate when there is no will or trust in place. At Common Law, an heir was the individual appointed by law to succeed to the estate of an ancestor who died without a will. It is commonly used today in reference to any individual who succeeds to property, either by will or law.

be heir to ~ →(財産)の相続人である
▷ an heir presumptive →推定相続人
▷ an heir apparent →(確定的)推定相続人(ほぼ確実に相続すると見なされている相続人のこと)<an heir who is certain or guaranteed to inherit property from an estate.>
▷ From the time of commencement of inheritance, an heir shall succeed blanket rights and duties attached to the property of the decedent. →相続人は、相続開始の時から、被相続人の財産に属した一切の権利義務を承継する(民法896条本文)
▷ If there are two or more heirs, the inherited property shall belong to those heirs in co-ownership. →相続人が数人あるときは、相続財産は、その共有に属する(民法898)
