国際ビジネス、渉外法務に役立つ実務表現 surety 【意味】 (連帯)保証人，担保物，保証金, 保釈金 【参考】 ▷ 主債務者(principal)が債務を履行しない場合に、主債務者に代わって履行することを約束する者を意味し、伝統的には「連帯保証人」を意味する(この点で“guarantor”と区別される)。ただし、単なる保証人の意味で使うこともある。 ▷ a person or an entity that assumes direct liability for another’s obligation; money or other things of value given as a promise that you will pay a debt, appear in court, etc. 【用例】 ▷ stand surety for a person →人の(連帯)保証人になる ▷ stand surety for £5 000 →5千ポンドの(連帯)保証人になる ▷ act as surety for a person →人の(連帯)保証人を務める ▷ be granted bail with a surety of $10,000 →1万ドルの保釈保証金で保釈される
