1.初めの言葉

Hello everyone. Now we have questions. How much do you know about Japanese students? And have you ever thought of them? OK now we will tell you. Please enjoy and have a good time. Then let’s start.

2.一日の日程 schedule

Japanese junior high school have three years grade. One lesson is fifty-minute. We have ten-minute recess, between lesson and lesson. School subjects are English, music, Japanese, fine arts, industrial arts and home-making, social studies, math, moral education, health and P.E, and science. We have six classes twice a week, five classes three times a week. But some schools has six classes every day.

3.通学 how to go to school

How do you go to school? I think many people ride their bicycle or their parents take them to school by car. But in Japan, we can’t!!! We’re only allowed to go to school on foot. If you want to ride your bicycle to school, you have to live about 2miles far from the school. So it’s really hard when it rains. In Japan bicycle has to be in the left side and the right side is for to walk. But it’s really dangerous because the road is very narrow. We don’t know why, but it’s just the way it is. That’s all.

4.身装 appearance (悪い例・良い例を見せる)

We wear a school uniform. And we can’t open the first button. We have to wear long white socks. We have to sign our name on our shoes and umbrella. If our hair is long, we have to tie it. We mustn’t put accessories on. If we want to use a hair pin, we have to use a black colored one. Girl’s uniform is almost skirt. Skirts should be below the knee. We can’t do a make-up. We use school bag.

5.給食 school lunch (写真を見せる)

There are many students that enjoy having school lunch. In America many foods are packed but in Japan foods are made by persons everyday. When we eat school lunch, we eat in our class and in groups. This is the photo of school lunch one day. This is rice, Japanese seaweed, Japanese vegetable hamburger, Japanese radish, milk and pickles. We say “いただきます(Itadakimasu)” before starting eating. Repeat after us!!!

6.掃除 cleaning

Do you usually clean your school? And do you know the students clean their school in Japan? Sometimes we use dusters. We usually clean like this.(雑巾拭き)

In fact, students dislike cleaning, though a few students like cleaning. I will tell you my experience. Now I clean a meeting room. As the teachers hardly go there and talkative boys clean the room, some of them spend much time in talking.

Many of you may say it is no use doing such a thing.

However, as I have cleaned my school for a long time since I was six years old, I sometimes feel cleaning my school makes me happy and grow better. Of course, the students’ duty is not cleaning but studying. But Japanese schools may teach us not only studying but also the importance of cleaning. So I think cleaning by students has both merits and demerits, but it is very natural for us to clean the place which we used. It is a little bit hard, but now I am proud of Japanese school style. That’s all. Thank you.

7.行事 event

We have some school events in a year. I’d like to tell you about two school events. First, the field day. Most of the school has it on September. All students participate in it. We are divided by colors. Mostly, red or white. In that, there many events. For example, skipping big rope and relay. Students practice so hard to win. Next, the chorus contest. In chorus contest, each class sing one song. Some students do accompany and conduct too. And, students in grade 9 of my school performed the original dance instead of singing a song.

8.終わりの言葉That’s all. Thank you very much for listening.

この他にも漢字の成り立ちの表やローマ字の表を作っていって、日本語についての説明をしたり、持って行った浴衣や甚平を着てもらったりしました。
